Bachelor of Arts

Popakademie Baden-Württemberg is the first state university in Germany to offer an artistic degree programme focusing on world music.

The artistic idea, its implementation and credibility are at the centre of the training. The programme should appeal to creative and talented instrumentalists, composers, ensemble directors and instrumental teachers.

All areas of world music are required for the accredited programme World Music: not only classical and traditional, but also transcultural music in connection with fusion, jazz, popular music, western art music, etc.

Degree: Bachelor of Arts
Duration: 6 semesters, 180 ECTS
Instruction language: German (at least level C1 required)
Mandatory internship: 12 weeks in the 5th semester
Application deadline: 30 April
Entrance exam: July 3rd 2019
Start: winter semester
Students admitted: approx. 12
Tuition fees: none
Except for international students and students studying for a second degree.

Requirements for acceptance:
  • general or subject-specific university entrance qualification; additional exam is possible for applicants without this qualification
  • practical experience: band, live performances, studio sessions, production
