Popacademics once again organize the Ural Music Camp
10. September 2021
With their Mannheim-based company OSTAR Music Network, the two pop academics Thomas Woschitz and Stefan Wandel initiate international training programs for creative professionals in music and the music industry.Together with partners, including the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, they offer music and music business camps with the goal of intercultural exchange. Wandel and Woschitz received the "IDEENSTARK" sponsorship award from the state of Baden-Württemberg in 2020.
The current main project is the Ural Music Camp in Russia. Since 2018, the Ural Music Camp (UMC) has been held once a year in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on the edge of the Ural Mountains. Started as a small, unusual workshop, the UMC is now an educational project funded by the German Foreign Office and opens up further opportunities for all participants in cooperation with the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Since 2018, the camp has offered 50 young creatives from all over Russia the opportunity to form bands within a week, professionally record newly written songs and present them to a broad audience at the end of the week. At the same time, participants from the field of music business develop marketing strategies for the newly founded bands. The creatives are accompanied by coaches and experts from Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria and Russia.
The partners Centre of Social Monitoring and Youth Issues (RUS), Ural Music Night Festival (RUS), OSTAR Music Network (GER) and Stichting Music Moves (NL) are jointly implementing the project.
A documentation of the camp has been published on YouTube in 2020.The project is supported by:
