Popakademie at Fête de la Musique in Berlin

In order to be able to study music, intensive preparation is required. The district music school Fanny Hensel in Berlin-Mitte was the first music school in Berlin to offer specialized preparation for pop music studies as part of a preparatory department: the Pop School Berlin. The Fanny Hensel Music School celebrates its fifteenth anniversary in cooperation with the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and Dussmann das Kulturkaufhaus with the Fête de la Musique: an open-air concert. Now actively involved in the music business after graduation, alumni of the music school, which also includes Popakademie alumni, will bring their solo, duo and band projects to the Fête stage on June 21 - each individual project as unique as the artists themselves! The Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will present its alumni Jakob Mayer, Lampe (Tilman Claas) and Shelly Phillips, all of whom also graduated from the Popschule Berlin. At the same time, lecturers from the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will present two workshops on the subject of world music, open to all interested parties: Oriental Percussion with Murat Coşkun and Baǧlama with Kenan Tülek.

The event will open at 12 p.m. with a panel discussion on "Learners and Teachers from Communities in the Music School?" led by Prof. Dr. David-Emil Wickström, head of the Popmusikdesign B.A. and World Music B.A. programs at the Poakademie.
