Lui Ludwig

Drums

Lui Ludwig started his drumming life as a self-taught drummer in 1984. After his first club appearances, he co-founded a well-known German band with which he performed on major stages until 2004 and recorded 6 albums. In 1995 he founded his fusion jazz trio Jazz Pistols; the band released seven albums so far and played on eight major tours in 33 countries, 23 of them in Africa alone. An important part of these tours were not only the concerts, but also the workshops that Lui Ludwig gave in many places.
Lui Ludwig has worked with many well-known artists, on stage, in the studio or in front of the camera, e.g. Chaka Khan, Uwe Ochsenknecht, Chris Norman, Nosi Katzmann, Joss Stone, Jeff Beck, Laith Al Deen, Gregor Meyle, Xavier Naidoo, the Söhne Mannheims and many more. At Autosymphonic, a big multimedia show in Mannheim 2011, he was musical director percussion.
His great passion are the claves and polyrhythms, which can be found not only in his distinctive playing. Lui Ludwig gladly and often passes on his knowledge in workshops and band coachings at home and abroad.
From the beginning he has been an integral part of the teaching team at the Popakademie Mannheim, specializing in rhythm, micro- and macrotiming, claves and, of course, movement, sports and improving posture while playing the drums.
