Growing up in the Upper Franconian Wagner town of Bayreuth, his father's jazz record collection with role models such as Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner awakened his enthusiasm for playing the piano at an early age. Since studying jazz piano at the Mainz University of Music, the city has remained the center of his work to this day.
In addition to his coveted qualities as a pianist and keyboardist, Ulf Kleiner is also active as a composer and producer. His stylistic range encompasses and combines jazz, soul and electro and has led to collaborations with artists such as Fola Dada, DePhazz, Caro Trischler, Joo Kraus, Daniel Stelter, Jeff Cascaro, the HR Bigband, Charlie Mariano, Ian Pooley and many more.He recently released the albums “When you know you know” with Caro Trischler and “Sisters & Brothers” with Fola Dada. In 2020 he released his solo album “Pianoskop” (klangraum records), a journey into the interior of a concert grand piano.Ulf has been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz since 2001 and has been part of the keyboard department at the Popakademie Mannheim since 2022.More information at: http://www.ulfkleiner.de
