This diversity and its historical and current fusions can only be defined to a limited extent by geographical boundaries, but can be found both locally and in the digital space. The term “global music” therefore refers primarily to global musical, economic, and social developments rather than to a musical category. However, these developments also include the global music market, which is relevant for many musicians and is also considered in the context of this degree program.Who is it for?The Global Music degree program is therefore aimed at musicians with a keen interest in their own musical development in a global context. Tradition serves as a catalyst for new and individual creative ideas. Global Music students deepen their musical skills in the music traditions offered as a focus and other popular music genres. At the same time, they learn about their musical and social interconnections across regional and national borders, how to shape them themselves, and how to communicate them. The accredited Global Music program covers all areas of world music: classical and traditional music as well as connections with fusion, jazz, popular music, Western art music, and more. The artistic idea, its implementation, and credibility are at the heart of the program. It is aimed at creative and talented instrumentalists, singers, composers, ensemble leaders, and instrumental and vocal teachers.
