YouTube awards scholarships to Popakademie students

06. December 2019

As part of the "Work in Progress Club" concert on 27 November, YouTube awarded its Early Career Scholarships to students of the Popakademie for the second time.

A total of eight students from the faculties of popular music and music and creative industries received awards. These students can look forward to one-time grants of 2,500 to 3,000 euros each. The scholarships were handed over by Prof. Hubert Wandjo, Business Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and Kiki Ganzemüller, Manager EMEA Music Partnerships Google. In addition to these two, the jury consisted of industry representatives Laura Heinrichs (BMG Rights Management), Julian Krohn (White Horse Music/Jung von Matt), Johannes Scholz (Irrsinn Management), Christoph Kregl (Picture Book) and the Artistic Director of the Popakademie Prof. Udo Dahmen.

The criteria for the award of financial support are on the side of the artists a special value of their creative work with a simultaneous commercial potential and on the side of the business students the idea and market potential of their business models or start-ups. Fifty percent of the scholarships were awarded to female and male students respectively.
