YouTube and Popakademie award scholarships

28. May 2024

Together with YouTube, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg awards the “Futuremakers Career Funding” scholarship. The scholarship supports students with creative and innovative artistic project ideas and for their outstanding achievements during their studies with a grant of EUR 3,000 each.

“Congratulations to the five students! They made a great impression during the jury session with their project ideas and we are looking forward to seeing how they are implemented. It has been a pleasure for us at YouTube to be able to support young talent through Futuremakers Career Funding for seven years now.”

“YouTube has already supported our students with 100 scholarships in various programs. We are delighted to now be able to enable our students to expand their artistic projects with the Futuremakers Career Funding from YouTube,” says Derek von Krogh, Artistic Director and Managing Director of Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

The following students have received the “Futuremakers Career Funding”
  • Angelina Schmid for the project “MAIVA”
  • Celia Groß for the project “Kiss and Tell - Music Video”
  • Felix Geishecker for the project “Touri”
  • Pia Bornitz for the “Piya” project
  • Samuel Gestrich for the project “Fosca & Samt”

The scholarship was awarded as part of the Work in Progress Club on May 15, 2024. The jury consisted of Kiki Ganzemüller (YouTube), Derek von Krogh (Artistic Director and Managing Director Popakademie Baden-Württemberg), Julian Krohn (Scholz & Friends Sounds), Christoph Kregl (Redroad), Johannes Scholz (IRRSINN Tonträger GmbH).

The Google subsidiary YouTube has been supporting bachelor's and master's students at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg with scholarships and other funding measures since the end of 2017. In 2024, YouTube's partnership was extended and expanded to include teaching and knowledge transfer in relation to the use of generative AI tools for students.
