Artistic/technical advice and project support Kanun
Teaches: Kanun, music theory, compositionAt the age of five he began his studies of Turkish/Ottoman music with Ismet Alpaslan in Pforzheim. Afterwards he learned the instrument Kanun with Eyüp First and developed his knowledge and skills in self-study. Over the years he discovered different masters of the Kanun like Erol Deran and Göksel Baktagir and was able to learn more about playing the Kanun directly or indirectly from them.In 2007 he attended several workshops at Labyrinth Music in Crete, where he deepened his knowledge and realized joint projects with artists from all over the world. Ross Daly, Derya Türkan, Zohar Fresco, Yurdal Tokcan, Jordi Savval and Giora Feidmann are among the artists he works with. In the same year he founded the Oriental Music Academy Mannheim together with Mehmet Ungan, whose original idea is partly based on the workshops in Crete.As artistic director he develops and realizes projects in various genres and different themes. This also includes workshops such as Makam-, Musicgroup- and Mes(h)kworkshops.Since 2015 he has been a lecturer at the Popakademie in Global Music, Turkish-Arabic Music Theory, Composition and Kanun. Since 2017 he has also been a lecturer in Kanun and music theory at the Federal Academy in Trossingen.
