SONGS" songwriting competition enters seventh round

08. December 2021

Until March 18, 2022, students between the ages of eleven and 21 can submit their music titles for the SONGS songwriting competition of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Prizes in kind worth a total of up to 10,000 euros will be awarded among the best entries. SONGS is the only songwriting competition for students in Baden-Württemberg.

Whether pop, rap, electro or rock, as a duo, solo or with a whole band - SONGS gives students from Baden-Württemberg the chance to bring their own SONGS to the big stage.

Students between the ages of eleven and 21 can apply together with an institution, e.g. a school, a music school or a youth center. Prizes in kind will be awarded to the three best SONGS, which will provide the institutions with musical equipment. In addition, the winners will receive professional coaching at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. For all singers in the finals, the Pop Academy will also offer a one-day vocal camp.

At the SONGS finale on May 6, 2022 at the SpardaWelt Eventcenter in Stuttgart, selected participants will present their submitted SONGS live in front of a jury of experts. The jury consists of the musician Eva Sauter, Prof. Udo Dahmen (Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg), Andreas Küchle (Head of Marketing at Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg), and Michelle Leonard (artist, publisher and songwriter).

For teachers, an online in-service training on songwriting/producing will be offered on January 20, 2022.
