Popacademic wins the 12th German Music Authors Award

03. March 2021

The motto of this year's 12th German Music Authors' Award, whose award ceremony had to be cancelled last year due to the Corona pandemic, is "We celebrate music". The individual prize categories will be announced online daily until 25 March 2021.

The category "Text Chanson/Lied" kicked off the competition. The German Music Authors' Award in this category goes to the artist Mine, who studied Popular Music at the Popakademie.

"You write beautiful lyrics that say a lot about you, creating your own world of melancholy and dreams and the imperfection of life, and you do it with a perfect aesthetic," said the band Großstadtgeflüster, among others, in their laudatory speech about Jasmin Stocker alias Mine.

Mine's new album "Hinüber" will be released on 30 April 2021, and she recently performed the song "Mein Herz" live at Late Night Berlin.

Mine's management Karakter Worldwide is also delighted with the award, closing the circle to the Popakademie with music business graduates and Karakter founders Peter Putz and Maximilian Schenkel as well as artist manager Stefan Habel.

The award ceremony for the 12th German Music Authors' Prize will take place on 25 March 2021 via live stream on musikautorenpreis.de and GEMA's social media channels.

The German Music Authors' Award is under the patronage of Prof. Monika Grütters MdB, Minister of State for Culture and Media, and was established by GEMA in 2009 to honour composers in the German music industry for their outstanding achievements. All award winners and the nominees are accepted as members of the Academy of German Music Authors (ADMA).
