First Pop Music Slam at the Popakademie as FSJ Culture Project

19. June 2019

On Friday 28 June the first Pop Music Slam will take place in the Popakademie. The event is a project of Celina, Arnilukka, Linda and Jule, who since September 2018 have been completing their Voluntary Social Year in the field of culture at the Popakademie.

For four years now, young people interested in culture have had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the Popakademie and Mannheim's cultural scene as part of the FSJ Kultur. The volunteer programme enables young people to spend a year after school or training to become involved in culture, to find their bearings and to develop personally. In addition to the Popakademie's everyday life in the various departments, the four FSJ students learn the most important know-how for the culture and media industry at the regular educational seminars. The sponsor of the Voluntary Social Year of Culture is the State Association for Cultural Youth Education Baden-Württemberg.

The training concept includes the conception and realisation of an own project, for which the four have chosen to carry out the Pop Music Slam. On 28 June from 8 pm, four poetry slammers will meet two musicians from the Popakademie at the Pop Music Slam. Sven Timpe on Bad Kreuznach, Clara from Stuttgart, Marc from Wiesbaden and Robin from Bonn will then slam to the sounds and beats of the two pop music design students Eric on drums and Valentin on piano.
