15. March 2019

Yesterday evening the Popakademie graduate Christian "Crada" Kalla was awarded the German Music Author Prize in the category "Composition Hip Hop".

The internationally popular composer, songwriter and producer has already worked with international and national artists such as Drake, Alicia Keys, Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar, Tim Bendzko, Rea Garvey and Tinie Tempah. His work has been awarded gold and platinum on several occasions, for example the song "Fireworks" by Drake ft. Alicia Keys, which Crada co-wrote and co-produced, received platinum and 2 times gold and was at the top of the charts for weeks.

Yesterday the GEMA honoured composers and lyricists for their musical work at the eleventh German Music Authors' Award in Berlin. In addition to Crada, the winners include Maxim Richarz (Maxim) in the category "Text Rock/Pop", Hanan Hamdi (Namika) with her hit "Je ne parle pas français" in the category "Most Successful Work" and Elif Demirezer with the young talent award in the "U" category. Crada prevailed in his category against Lennard Oestmann (Jumpa) and Marcello David (Lex Lugner). The lifetime achievement award went to the German composer Wolfgang Rihm.

Christian Kalla studied the bachelor course Pop Music Design at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg until 2009. He has remained true to the Popakademie by passing on his knowledge to students as a lecturer in the field of producing.
