Claude Cowork
AI-Assisted File and Document Management
Claude is an AI assistant by Anthropic for writing, analysis, research, and brainstorming. Through the chat interface (web, mobile, desktop), it can draft text, analyze data, and summarize documents. With Claude Cowork, the assistant gains access to local folders and applications and carries out multi-step tasks autonomously – from reading and editing to creating files. Cowork works across a wide range of file types: it reads and writes Excel spreadsheets (for tour dates, release schedules, splits, or metadata lists, for example), builds finished presentations (such as pitch decks or release overviews), and can even access code files when needed – handy for preparing data exports from distributor or streaming platforms, or adapting scripts for recurring reports. While the chat version mainly advises and produces content, Cowork handles the actual execution on the computer. The tool suits knowledge work in the music business where recurring or document-heavy processes should be automated.
Alongside Cowork, Anthropic offers further specialized tools: Claude Design handles creative tasks directly in conversation – early drafts of artwork layouts, social assets, or pitch material, for instance. Claude Code is built for hands-on work with code and takes on programming tasks autonomously, from the terminal to the desktop and mobile apps.
Similar tools: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot
Example use case: Ahead of a release, a label team uses Cowork to analyze a folder full of streaming reports and statements, summarize the key figures, and automatically generate a finished overview as an Excel spreadsheet plus a pitch deck for management – without manually copying data together from several files.
