Songwriting competition "SONGS" enters the sixth round

09. March 2021

Until 16 July 2021, students aged eleven to 21 can submit their music titles for the SONGS songwriting competition of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Prizes in kind with a total value of up to 10,000 euros will be awarded among the best entries. SONGS is the only songwriting competition for pupils in Baden-Württemberg.

Whether pop, rap, electro or rock, as a duo, solo or with a whole band - with "SONGS", pupils from Baden-Württemberg get the chance to bring their own SONGS to the big stage.
Pupils aged between eleven and 21 can apply together with an institution, e.g. a school, a music school or a youth centre. Prizes in kind will be awarded among the three best SONGS, which will provide the institutions with musical equipment. In addition, the winners will receive professional coaching at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. For all singers in the final, the Popakademie also offers a one-day vocal camp.

At the SONGS final on 17 September 2021, selected participants will present their submitted SONGS live in front of an expert jury. The jury consists of the artist MINE, Prof. Udo Dahmen (Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg), Andreas Küchle (Head of Marketing at Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg), Nadime Romdhane (Deputy Head of Music bigFM) and Michelle Leonard (Member of the Supervisory Board of GEMA, artist, publisher and songwriter).

Workshops will be offered for teachers, on 23 April 2021 on songwriting and on 19 May 2021 on music video. All those interested in the sixth round can take part in a workshop on the topic of music video on 12 May 2021.

The deadline is 16 July 2021, all information is available here.
Registration and information on the workshops at songs@popakademie.de.

The sponsor of the "SONGS" competition is the Stiftung Bildung und Soziales der Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg. Social and cultural commitment has always been an integral part of the corporate philosophy of the regionally rooted Sparda-Bank.
