Funding program "Perspektive Pop" enters second round

06. May 2022

The impulse program "Culture after Corona" of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg contributes to strengthening the cultural and creative scene and to dealing with the consequences of the Corona pandemic.

As part of the Impulse Program, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts is inviting applications for the "Perspektive Pop" program for the second time. The goal of the program is to further develop the live music scene through new artistic impulses, to strengthen players and venues, and to open up new locations. In addition, the program aims to maintain the artistic work of the institutions and players as far as possible and to support them in the further development of their offerings. The program is aimed at all genres of popular music (e.g. rock, pop, jazz, hip-hop, heavy metal, electronic and experimental music), cross-genre projects, singer/songwriters, the off-/subculture scene, newcomers and established musicians.

In the first funding round in 2021, 38 projects were funded with around 1.2 million euros. In the last round, Popakademie students and alumni were also funded: Nora OG, Larifari and the Maifeld Derby. Nora OG is a six-piece band from Mannheim that deals thematically with social problems such as sexism and gender inequality. The group LARIFARI is a band that aims to make music accessible to children and addresses issues such as diversity and inclusion on stage. Maifeld Derby is a music festival in Mannheim that has been held annually at the riding arena of Mannheim's Maimarkt grounds since 2011. The organizer is Timo Kumpf, a graduate of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in the Music Business B.A. program.

The possible funding amount per application is between 10,000 and 75,000 euros. An application is possible until May 31, 2022.
