SONGS final concert: prizes awarded to up-and-coming bands

On Friday, July 02, 2021, the finals of SONGS, the songwriting competition of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg for high school students, took place.

At the SONGS finale, selected participants presented their submitted SONGS live in front of an expert jury consisting of Prof. Udo Dahmen (Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg), Andreas Küchle (Head of Marketing at Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg), Michelle Leonard (artist, publisher and songwriter) and Eva Sauter (singer of the band ok.danke.tschüss).

The two SONGS Youngster Awards went to Finnian Tindal (stage name Finnian Cole) with his song "So Lucky" and Emily Kisch with "Your Life". First place went to Pia Bornitz aka Piya from St. Raphael Gymnasium Heidelberg with her song "Im Jetzt", second place went to Anela Gashi aka Anela with "Taking a walk" and thus to Gottlieb-Daimler-Gymnasium Stuttgart. Third place went to Phil Siedenburg from Constantin-Vanotti Schule Überlingen with his song "Focus". A total of 10.000 euros worth of non-cash prizes were awarded. For all participating singers, the Pop Academy offers a vocal and songwriting camp lasting several days, and the winners also receive professional coaching.
