Sunday Beats, the joint concert series of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and Stadtpark Mannheim, is going into its fourth round in 2022!.

Gabriel Zanetti will kick off this year's Sunday Beats on 22 May 2022. Together with his band, the singer-songwriter will be on stage at the concert shell in Mannheim's Herzogenriedpark from 3 pm.

Gabriel Zanetti's songs are calm to groovy, atmospheric but always charismatic and authentic with catchy tunes. Inspired by great artists such as Sting, Coldplay and Jamie Cullum, his music is as wide-ranging as the different styles of musicians. Admission to the concert is free, park admission is €3.50 for adults, children/young people up to 15 years €2.

In the online talk series ""Popakademie Talks", program director Prof. Dr. David-Emil Wickström, among others, talks to guests from the music and culture sectors about current social issues. The topic for the summer semester 2022 is Mental Health.

On Tuesday 24 May from 7 pm, Leandra Preissler and Kevin Niedernhöfer will talk about their experiences with depression. They will also shed light on how depression is dealt with in the music industry. Leandra Preissler is responsible for the promotion programme Bandpool at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Kevin Niedernhöfer is a promoter/agent at BTA (Budde Talent Agency).

The Popakademie Talk will take place via Zoom. Participation is free, but we ask for registration.

At the World Music Café in the Popakdemie, students of the Bachelor's programme in World Music present their current band and solo projects.

On 26 June 2022, Vido will be on stage at the concert shell in Mannheim's Herzogenriedpark from 3 pm.
The music of the band Vido is quadrilingual, polyphonic and ranges from spherical, dreamy indie sounds to soft jazzy vibes and rousing grooves. In their songs, Vido tell stories, experiment with sounds and encourage you to think, sing along or bob along.

Four days of live gigs at the Popakademie! Before the Popakademie and its students start the well-deserved semester break, there will be four days of thrilling live gigs at the Summer Break Sessions.

On 24 July 2022 you can look forward to ENGIN! Together with his band, the singer-songwriter will be on stage in the concert shell in Mannheim's Herzogenriedpark from 3 pm. And this is what you can expect: False roses and real love - consumerism, loneliness and social ills - personal indisposition and the search for identity. ENGIN delivers an uncompromising view of the world and the self. The finger is always in the wound. Profound and danceable singer-songwriter music, brute and fragile. A conglomerate of Turkish psych-rock sounds, blues, indie and chanson elements.

On 28 August 2022, Ultramaryn will play on the stage of the concert shell in Mannheim's Herzogenriedpark from 3 pm. And this is what you can expect: Amidst gaudy big city supermarkets and with an inner tendency towards melancholy, Mannheim artist "Ultramaryn" finds her sound between German-language synth-pop and alternative. Her debut EP, released in 2019, is a darkly colourful mixture that rides the new German wave and likes to draw on electro, soul and rock elements. She now plays live in a compact duo formation with Karlsruhe drummer Dave Büchner.

On 18 September 2022, LORI & Band will ring in the finale of this year's Sunday Beats on the stage of the concert shell in Mannheim's Herzogenriedpark from 3 pm. And you definitely don't want to miss it: LORI is a pop artist who stands for autobiographical lyrics and international beats à la Dua Lipa. Her musical idols are artists like Miley Cyrus, Shirin David, KeKe, Mathea and Katy Perry. Her agenda includes topics such as personal development, empowerment, optimism and feminism. LORI is a boss with perfect make-up. A doer in sneakers. A Moscow Mule drinking fashionista.
