International Summercamp

The Pop Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg, University of Popular Music and Music Business, located in Mannheim, Germany, organised its first International Summercamp from the 21st to the 29th of August 2009.

Everybody who is up for meeting musicians from all over the world, rehearsing, exchanging ideas, rock the studio or the stage and enjoy an extra hot summer - this is the place for you to be! From July 30th to August 7th 2010 the Pop Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg will host up to 80 guests, from all over Europe and beyond, for a very special experience. Students of the Pop Academy, as well as students from our partner institutions in Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Sweden, will take part to experience this unique chance to be coached by a highly qualified team of international experts. With a fantastic start in 2009, the follow up camp this year will again invite everybody who is interested.

 Lectures and participants of the International Summercamp 2009

In addition to the intensive daily rehearsals, the participants can choose between vocal or instrumental lessons, which they attend either alone or as part of a group. Furthermore, the band coaching is completed by songwriter workshops and supplementary recording sessions in the studio facilities of the Pop Academy in order to transfer the new ideas into real projects.  On top there are workshops in performance training, drum & singing circles, wake & shake with body percussion and many more...

In between and after the units, attendees are invited to go downtown, to take trips to the local surrounding, to jam at night or just relax. The Summercamp focuses on overall band coaching, artistic teamwork and the implementation of real-life creativity.
As an international event, the Summercamp offers excellent ways of networking for young musicians in the European context. The teachers, all professional experts of the music buisiness, will do their best to support the idea of the International Summercamp. On August 6th, the results of the International Summercamp will be presented on the Pop Academy stage in th ecourse of a public concert.
